Microsoft announced a new category of personal computers called “Copilot+ PCs”. These are AI-focused machines capable of 40+ TOPS to handle many tasks locally, but cloud services are also part of it.
We’re telling you all this because Samsung has introduced one of the first Copilot+ computers â the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge. This ties into the company’s own pursuits with Galaxy AI. Oh, and this is also one of the first Snapdragon X Elite powered laptops!

It comes in two sizes â 14â, which weighs 1.16 kg (2.56 lbs) and measures 10.9 mm thick (0.43â), and 16â, which is 1.55 kg (3.42 lbs) and measures 12.3 mm (0.48â). The battery capacities on both are quite similar at 55.9Wh and 61.8Wh respectively and both promise all-day battery life.
The screens are 16:10 AMOLED panels with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 px and 500 nits of brightness with an anti-reflective coating. These support 10-point multi-touch, have a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz and deliver rich colors with 120% DCI-P3 coverage.

While both versions are powered by the Snapdragon X Elite, they are not necessarily equal. The 14″ and 16″ use the X1E-80-100 chip by default, but the 16″ can optionally choose the X1E-84-100. Attractive and informative model names as always.
In short, the 80 chip runs up to 3.4GHz with all CPU cores active and boosts up to 4.0GHz with only two active. The Adreno GPU delivers 3.8 TFLOPS of computing power. The 84 chip is top of the line with all cores clocked at 3.8GHz and dual-core boost at 4.2GHz. The GPU also goes up to 4.6 TFLOPS, but it’s important to note that all Elite models have 10 CPU cores, 42MB of total cache, the same RAM speed, and the same NPU performance at 45 TOPS (qualifying them for Copilot+).
The Galaxy Book4 Edge comes with 16GB of RAM (probably solderable) and 512GB or 1TB of storage. It runs Windows 11 out of the box and mixes Samsung and Galaxy AI features.
Let’s talk about them for a moment. Recall is a search function for the forgetful – just tell the computer what you have for the document, email or website and it will find it for you. This is one of Galaxy AI and Copilot+ that run on the device and don’t upload data to the cloud. However, you have full control over the data they have stored on your device and can filter, adjust and delete it.
The AI ââfeatures you may have used on your Galaxy S phone are also available. PC will do Live Subtitles and can translate them to English. Chat help and Live Translation are also available – these help you change your writing style and break down language barriers. In addition, Circle to Search results from your phone can be easily copied to PC.
There is a new dedicated AI button that gives you instant access to all AI features. We didn’t even mention them all – there’s generative AI based on your sketches and text, fun camera filters and more.
Okay, let’s get back to the hardware. We already mentioned the battery capacities, charging is handled by a 65W USB-C adapter. Additionally, there are two fast USB 4.0 ports, an HDMI 4.1 (4K @ 60Hz) and a combo headphone/microphone jack. The 16â laptop also has room for a USB 3.2 port.
Wireless connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 7 (be), but note that only 6E is available in South Korea (this appears to be a regulatory issue, not a hardware issue).
The body of the laptop is made of aluminum, glass and plastic, including recycled materials. Only one color is available now, Sapphire Blue. The battery promises video playback time of up to 22 hours.
The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge (both 14â and 16â) will be available starting June 18. The AI ââlaptop will come to the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and South Korea. The price has not been confirmed yet.
